Ouch! Joe Mort Shelved by Injury

Joe Mort of the Sky Warriors just might have to call it quits for the season. The 19-year-old Madison reliever received a possible season-ending injury against the Milwaukee Explorers recently at Sky Warriors Ballpark. Mort suffered a torn rotator cuff while throwing a pitch. The Sky Warriors medical staff said he could be out quite some time, as much as 5-6 months.
So far this year, Mort has been credited with 12 saves, registered a 2.33 ERA and struck out 23 in 19.1 innings. He also has a 2-2 record.

Victoria's Orthman Sidelined for Season

It was announced today in Victoria that Seals starting pitcher Jake Orthman will be out 9 months. Orthman suffered a stretched elbow ligament that occurred during a game against the Murfreesboro Rifles.
This year, Orthman has a 2-2 record with a 3.68 ERA in 7 starts.

May Holds Golden Bears Scoreless

Trois-Rivieres Aquanauts fans were pleased to see so many goose eggs up on the scoreboard as Dan May blanked the Corpus Christi Golden Bears, 10-0, at Golden Bears Ballpark. May stopped them on 3 hits while walking 1 and striking out 6.
"Once he gets in a groove, he can be dynamite," Aquanauts skipper said. "He was on top of his game in this one."
