2080 AC #1 Star is Baton Rouge's Cortez

Tony Cortez took RSL Single A by storm this year, and he did it all at the age of 20.
For his spectacular campaign, the Baton Rouge Grapplers star has been named the 2080 Alpha Conference Outstanding Hitter Award recipient.
"To be considered amongst the best in the league is overwhelming," said the right fielder.
On the season he compiled a .328 batting average to go with a .375 on-base percentage. The native of Caguas, Puerto Rico also added 15 doubles, 4 triples, 20 home runs, 54 RBIs and 58 runs scored.
He received 29 first place votes out of a possible 30. Brandon Russell of the Hoxie Scots finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Kevin Rogalski of the Mastic Beach Polecats finished third.
