Reliever August's Best Hurler in BC

When Santa Ana reliever Zee-loo Kim strolled in from the bullpen in August, it did not bode well for the opposing team. He usually put a quick end to any budding rally. For his excellent mound work he was named the Beta Conference Pitcher of the Month.
The Broncs reliever had 9 saves for the month with a 1-0 record and 0.00 ERA. He made 11 relief appearances, hurled 13 innings, yielded 2 hits, fanned 18 and walked 1.
This season in 60 relief appearances, Kim has thrown 59 innings and collected 40 saves. His won-lost record is 2-5 with a 2.14 ERA.

Penafiel Chosen August's Best AC Hurler

Last month's cream of the crop on the mound was Mario Penafiel of the Riverside Spinners. He captured the Alpha Conference Pitcher of the Month award for his outstanding performance in August.
Penafiel started 6 games, threw 39.1 innings, yielded 32 hits and logged a 5-0 record. He put down 30 batters on strikes, walked 15 and compiled a 1.37 ERA. Opposing teams batted .219 against him.
On his stats sheet for the year Penafiel shows a 11-8 record, 27 starts, 160 innings, 131 strikeouts and a 3.38 ERA.

BC Best Hitter Award to Garland's Per Fronteira

Garland Pigeons fans believe they've got a talented young star in Per Fronteira.
He did nothing to dissuade that notion in August, as he hit .310 with 10 home runs, 27 RBIs and 19 runs scored.
The end result was the first baseman being named the Beta Conference Batter of the Month.
This season, Fronteira is batting .301 with 17 home runs.
