Chugiak-Eagle River Star, Outstanding Pitcher Award Winner Monday, September 23rd , 2080 Chugiak-Eagle River ace Mario Gatica put up some sensational stats for the 2080 season and has been voted the Beta Conference Outstanding Pitcher Award winner. The 23-year-old Chinooks star made 25 starts and racked up a 12-7 record. He pitched 168.2 innings, collected 172 strikeouts, gave up 47 walks and 126 hits in holding the opposition to a .204 batting average. He received 30 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Hwui-ning Tsou of the Arlington Mallards finished second in voting, while Joseph Stark of the Santa Ana Broncs finished third.
