Hersey Beats Toros for 200th Win Thursday, September 21st , 2079 What would you do after you had just won your 200th game? Run around Aetna Stadium doing cartwheels, jumping for joy and waving to the crowd? Well, maybe you and I would do that, but not John Hersey -- that's not his way. After he notched number 200, the 36-year-old Phoenix hurler spoke to the press like he always has -- in a soft, quiet voice. He wasn't doing any cartwheels or even anything resembling a jump for joy. "Obviously it feels very good," Hersey commented. "To win this many games, you've got to have a lot of help." Hersey got his milestone victory by beating the Tucson Toros 14-5. He held them to 11 hits in 7.1 innings and rung up 7 strikeouts with no walks. After sharing his thoughts with the press, he went to the clubhouse. There he was greeted by the guys who had helped him get #200. His teammates drenched him and then gave him a rousing round of applause. That got to him -- for the first time today, Hersey's face broke into a big smile. Career-to-date, Hersey has a record of 200 wins and 133 losses and a 3.34 ERA.
