Slumping Thunderbirds Lose 6th Straight
|
Los Angeles beat Phoenix at Stars Ballpark, escaping with a 4-3 win. The win in large part was due to first baseman Kamakana Aniani. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Dustin Kerley claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record stands at 5-6. Los Angeles has run its win streak to 4 straight.
Whip Lund was the walk-off hero for Los Angeles. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Stars catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Aniani told the Los Angeles Gazette.
