Free agency is upon us.
Teams, players and pundits who follow Rising Star League will be thrust headlong into a whirlpool of intrigue and uncertainty. The free agent signing period will continue throughout the offseason as some clubs will go a long way toward sealing up a championship -- or a spot in the cellar.
The magic, the unpredictability of hot stove baseball, is fascinating to the fan; particularly the fan whose team comes out on top!

Los Angeles-St. Louis Trade: Ough for Vinent

The Stars and Gaedels announced a deal that was completed today. Los Angeles sent 20-year old minor league RHP Brendan Ough to St. Louis for 25-year old 3B Evelio Vinent. Both teams appear happy with the outcome of the trade. The general managers told the Baseball News Network they felt the swap was beneficial for all parties involved.
Checking out his career figures, Vinent has played in 393 games with a .253 batting average. Among his 369 hits are 28 home runs. He has also scored 153 runs, stolen 0 bases, and driven in 184 runs.

Chicago-Los Angeles Announce Deal

According to BNN there were mixed emotions by the players involved in the trade between the Chicago Phantoms and the Los Angeles Stars. As part of the deal, the Phantoms swapped 28-year old CF Leo Arboleda to the Stars getting 22-year old minor league 2B Willie Vicente and 23-year old minor league RHP Hector Ortiz in return. The players indicated it was good to get a fresh new start in another city, but it was difficult to leave your friends on the old team.
Arboleda has a lifetime .253 batting average and .333 on-base percentage in his 720-game career with 629 hits and 28 home runs.
