Mastic Beach Snaps Hiraoka Streak at 20
Saturday, April 13th , 2086
It just wasn't Kazuo Hiraoka's day.
The Plano Elephants grabbed the 17-4 win over the Mastic Beach Polecats, but the Polecats mound staff did what nobody else could -- they stopped the 20-game hitting streak of Elephants third baseman Kazuo Hiraoka.
"We might have focused a bit too much on stopping Hiraoka," Mastic Beach manager commented afterward. "He had a nice hitting streak going, but the Elephants have other hitters and they did their job today."
In the current season, Hiraoka has put up a .375 batting average with 12 hits, 1 home run, 9 runs batted in and scored 10 runs.

Vielma on Fire, 5-for-6 Against Madison
Saturday, April 13th , 2086
Julio Vielma was at the head of a Gilbert hit parade at Sky Warriors Ballpark. The third baseman went to the plate 6 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Bulldozers to a nice 13-2 victory over the Madison Sky Warriors.
"I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Vielma told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today."
Sky Warriors skipper said later that the club gave up "too much plate."
"Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."
Julio Vielma hit a two-run double in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, hit a two-run triple in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.
Vielma is currently hitting at a .484 pace with no home runs, 10 RBIs and has scored 11 times.

Bruisers Smith Lost for Year
Saturday, April 13th , 2086
The news is bad in Glendale. The Bruisers have lost the services of starting pitcher Cameron Smith for the rest of the season due to a torn ulnar collateral ligament. Smith was injured in a recent game with the Victoria Seals while throwing a pitch and is expected to miss 10-11 months.
