Whitney Rips 3 Homers Against Birds
Wednesday, July 28th , 2083
Bobby Whitney brutalized the Cincinnati Birds pitching staff, launching three home runs in the 11-2 Salton City victory at Birds Ballpark. The Salton City Naturals first baseman was red-hot, the ball just exploding off his bat all day.
"I don't try to hit homers," he said later. "I try to go out there and put a good swing on the ball, and sometimes it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one."
For the game, he went 3-for-4 with 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"Too much Bobby Whitney today," Birds manager said. "That's my assessment of the game. That's what our problems boiled down to."
Bobby Whitney hit a two-run home run off Steve Madison in the 1st, was hit by a pitch in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Steve Madison in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Danny Valenciand in the 5th and flied out in the 8th.
Currently Whitney is batting .327 with 3 home runs and 20 RBIs.
