6 Hits for Destroyers Gonzales Tuesday, August 27th , 2080 Jose Gonzales was at the head of a San Diego Destroyers hit parade at Portland Park. The 26-year-old went to the plate 6 times and came away with 6 hits, but it was the Portland Dragons that marched off with the 9-8 win. "We didn't have it today," griped Destroyers skipper Steve Alstadt following the game. "Jose did fine, but as a team, we didn't do it with the bats and we didn't do it pitching." Gonzales did more than fine, dominating the Dragons at the plate during his record-making 6-for-6 performance. "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging right fielder told reporters. "When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats." Jose Gonzales doubled in the 1st, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 10th.
