On Road, Toronto Drops Philadelphia, 6-2
|
The Toronto Juggernauts rode a solid performance from 33-year-old starting pitcher Luis Basurto to a win, beating the Philadelphia Spectres, 6-2, at Sony Field at Philadelphia. Basurto, now 7-9, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The 'W' lifts Toronto's record to 65-79.
Toronto won the game in part because of Jae-hong You. The catcher ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Juggernauts ahead, 3-0. For the game, You had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"I was talking to myself on the mound, saying 'attack, attack, attack, stay convicted, no matter what,'" said Basurto.
