Havana Keeps Trending in Wrong Direction
The St. Louis Gaedels overcame a good performance by Havana second baseman Phil Wilde to knock off Havana, 6-4, at Veeck Park. Wilde was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Travis Morris, the winning pitcher, is now 4-3. He went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits, while fanning 8 and walking 1. The misery continues for the Metropolitanos, who have now dropped 13 in a row.

Erleisi Valido had a big 2-run home run for the Gaedels in the bottom of the fifth inning. With St. Louis leading 3-2 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a curveball from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Nate McFry and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Gaedels on top, 5-2.

"Use your eyes, make an adjustment, and be better," said losing manager Mark Sands. "We need some accountability all the way around. Everybody, top to bottom."
