Cyclones Get Clutch Win, 7-6
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Miami Cyclones eventually prevailed.
Due in large part to first baseman Karl Cooper, the Miami Cyclones sunk the Kansas City Athletics, 7-6. Cooper was 2 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Earning his 8th save of the year was Francisco Sequeira.
Cooper had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a full count fastball from Justin Samsel, he banged a 3-run home run to left-center, giving the Cyclones a 7-6 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Cooper.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Cyclones manager Chris Stephan. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
With the win, the Cyclones have a record of 21-17.
