Browns Squelch Cyclones Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Brooklyn Browns downed the Miami Cyclones, 3-0, at Kroger Stadium. Stellar pitching by Luis Basurto had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 6th in the EC in innings pitched with 39.2, handcuffed his opponent all game. Basurto, now 3-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Jorge Baeza wrapped it up, recording his 3rd save.
Jose Buezo, who finished 2nd in the WC in RBI with 127 in 2075, had a direct impact on the outcome. Buezo contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put Brooklyn up, 1-0.
"I just tried to focus on getting that first guy out every inning," said Basurto.
The win gives Brooklyn a record of 16-12.
