Santiago pitcher Volk Miller did his part in helping his team beat the San Diego Destroyers, 4-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Miller got the win, improving to 11-6. He gave up 4 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Earning his 13th save of the year was Joe Drum.

Luis Valera took San Diego hurler Gary Banks deep in the bottom of the sixth. His 2-run home run put the Avispas on top, 4-2. In all, Valera had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"I had one goal in mind," said Miller. "Keep pounding the zone."

The Avispas saw their win-loss record go to 41-67. At the same time, the Destroyers fell to 52-57.
