Senators Fall, 5-1, to Santiago
|
Santiago pitcher Allan Tinter had a large part in his team beating the Washington Senators, 5-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Tinter, now 6-9, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 9, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. The Avispas raised their record to 40-67.
Santiago won the game in part because of Cheuk-yan Zha. The right fielder ripped a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Avispas ahead, 2-0. For the game, Zha had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
Zha attributed the win to his team's "hyper resolve."
