Kodiaks Best Avispas in Pitching Duel
|
Alaska got a first-rate effort from pitcher Rick Stockley, who frustrated Santiago hitters en route to a 1-0 Kodiaks triumph at Tundradome. So far, the 2079 season has been disappointing for Santiago, now 3-7.
The Kodiaks got a big at-bat from center fielder Marc Sanders. For the game, Sanders was 1-3 with a home run. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Alaska a 1-0 lead.
"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," said Sanders. "But I like how we're playing right now."
