Thomas Is BC's Best Pitcher in July Tuesday, August 1st , 2084 Madison Sky Warriors hurler John Thomas was rewarded today with the Beta Conference Pitcher of the Month honors. Thomas, 20, realizes that pitching isn't all about how hard you can throw, it's about accuracy and about picking yourself up even when you've had a run of bad luck. "I'd like to say I don't give them anything to hit," said the Madison starter, "but that's not true. Every pitcher gives up a long ball now and then. Usually there's at least one mistake in each at-bat, but you've got to battle through your mistakes and build some positive momentum. The rest will fall into place." Things did fall into place for Thomas. In July he took the ball for 36.1 innings while notching 35 strikeouts, a 1.24 ERA and a 4-0 record. Thomas has started 11 times this year, pitched 84.2 innings, fanned 81 batters and walked 18. His current record is 6 wins and 2 losses with a 2.66 ERA. |
