5-for-5 Day for Larkin Friday, June 28th , 2086 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Cory Larkin -- a 5-hit day. He went on a rampage and sparkled on the diamond at Ballpark of Toledo, but the performance lost a little luster when the Red Dragons were downed, 12-11, by the Orlando Sword Swallowers. After his glittering performance, the Toledo catcher told the press that he "just tried to get myself in a good count and have a good at-bat." His batting theory paid dividends today as he slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book. "I just wish we had added a win in the record book, too," Larkin said. Cory Larkin singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, doubled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off John Olson in the 9th. In 29 games this season, Larkin has batted at a .327 pace with 34 hits and 2 home runs. View Boxscore |
