Campas Tames Glendale Friday, May 3rd , 2086 The Glendale Beachcombers manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Salt Lake Stingers. The Beachcombers were overpowered by Salt Lake starter German Campas, who hurled his club to victory, 9-0. "It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," said. Over 9 innings, Campas blanked Glendale on 3 hits with no walks and 5 strikeouts. "I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Campas said. "I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one." Campas's record up to now is 2-and-2 with no saves and a 3.98 ERA. He has given up 30 hits in 31.2 innings with 12 strikeouts. View Boxscore |
