Year Over for Blackbirds Stevens Monday, April 22nd , 2086 The doctors have spoken and Dave Stevens of the Shreveport Blackbirds didn't like what he heard. The 19-year-old right fielder is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Stevens sustained his season-ending injury during the Geneva Greens game yesterday at Royals Ballpark. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing the ball. Today the Shreveport medical staff reported Stevens had a stretched elbow ligament and would be absent from the lineup for at least 5 months. Stevens is currently batting .277 with no home runs and 4 RBIs. |
