Grapplers Spellbound, Gomez Hurls No-Hitter
Friday, April 13th , 2085
The Toledo Red Dragons relied on no-hit stuff from starter Arturo Gomez to defeat the Baton Rouge Grapplers, 2-0, at Ballpark of Toledo.
"It's quite a thrill," Gomez told the media afterward. "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it."
To get his name logged in the Alpha Conference records, he stopped Baton Rouge cold and hitless, surrendering 1 walk and fanning 4 of the 28 batters he faced.
Toledo manager was in a jovial mode after the game, kidding with reporters that Gomez "made managing easy today."
"I didn't have hardly any decisions to make like I usually do," he said. "I didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter."
