Seafarers Platas Suffers Injury Friday, August 11th , 2084 The doctors have spoken and Elias Platas of the Nevada Seafarers didn't like what he heard. The 24-year-old reliever is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Platas sustained his season-ending injury during the Tulsa Metalheads game yesterday at Seafarers Ballpark. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Nevada medical staff reported Platas had a torn flexor tendon in his elbow and would be absent from the lineup for at least 12-13 months. For the year, Platas has 17 relief appearances and a 0-3 record with no saves. He has logged 21.1 innings and allowed 22 base hits. Opposing clubs have put up a .265 batting average against him. Platas has rung up 14 strikeouts, surrendered 9 walks and fashioned a 3.38 ERA. |
