Keiichi Murata Injured, Out for Year

Keiichi Murata will soon find out from his doctors if his season will continue. The first diagnosis was not too positive and indicated the Salton City second baseman could miss the remainder of the year. Murata was injured while colliding with a player at a base in the Naturals-Lights clash at Miami Beach Park recently. Doctors said he has a concussion and would be out a minimum of 10 months.
This season, Murata has banged out 42 hits in 157 at-bats for a .268 average with 6 home runs. He is getting on base at a .375 pace and his totals also include 18 RBIs and 17 runs scored.

Cong Wins BC Top Pitcher Honors

Over the past month Cheng-en Cong has turned quite a few heads. He's young, talented and able to pitch with the established arms in the Beta Conference. He proved all that and now he's been named May's Pitcher of the Month.
The rookie for the Henderson Terrors posted 4-0 mark and a 1.46 ERA. In 5 starts he tossed 37 innings, permitted 26 hits and fanned 31 batters.
This year, Cong has a 6-2 mark in 10 starts with a 1.97 ERA. He has given up 58 hits in 73 innings, struck out 59 and issued 16 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .217 batting average against him.

Alpha Conference Announces Best Starter
Friday, June 1st , 2085
The best pitcher this past month in the Alpha Conference was Eric Jackson of the Aurora Reds. He really razzle-dazzled league hitters, finishing May with a standout 5-0 record and 1.22 ERA.
The Reds hurler made 6 starts and surrendered 32 hits in 37 innings. He struck out 38 and walked 9.
Jackson has gone 5-0 this season with an ERA of 1.96 and 46 strikeouts in 46 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .256 against him.
