Year Over for Commodores Matthews Friday, August 4th , 2084 It took the Worcester team doctor a while to realize it, but starting pitcher Mike Matthews won't simply play through a torn flexor tendon in his elbow after he got hurt throwing a pitch in today's Birds-Commodores game. At first, it looked like Matthews might be back as early as tomorrow, but now the prognosis isn't quite so good; he's expected to miss at least 9 months. To date this season, Matthews has compiled a 1-6 record with a 3.99 ERA in 11 starts. |
