Campbell Whacks 3 Out of the Park for Edmonton Wednesday, July 19th , 2084 Edmonton Trappers second baseman Phil Campbell sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little. Prior to the start of today's contest with the Scottsdale Crawdads, Campbell told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times. "During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber." The big day from Campbell pushed the Trappers past the Crawdads, 8-7. To go along with the homers, he collected 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Campbell told reporters after the game. Phil Campbell walked in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Glenn Keeping in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Luis Martinez in the 7th, flied out in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off Myung-bak Hyong in the 11th. To date, Campbell has collected 85 hits for a .280 average. He has posted 19 home runs, scored 61 runs and driven in 50 runs. |
