5-Hit Blitz by Villa
Friday, July 14th , 2084
Juan Villa was on quite a roll as he knocked the ball all over Ballpark of Mascot, collecting 5 hits. His day of glory wasn't able to win the game, however. The Aurora Reds got the 8-5 victory over the Pawtucket Patriots.
"I never realized that a few hits could cause so much commotion," the left fielder said in the clubhouse after the game, crowded by reporters. "Headlines and highlights are great, but it takes a lot of luster off it that we lost."
After his first couple of hits, all eyes in the ballpark were on him each time Villa stepped into the batter's box. Even some opposing fans were pulling for him, knowing they were watching a little slice of league history unfold.
When asked what the secret of hitting so well is, he smiled and said "relax, concentrate, and hit the ball where they ain't."
That's exactly what he did, as Villa finished the game with 5 hits in 6 at-bats and a line in the record book. Juan Villa doubled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Ricardo Mata in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th and doubled in the 9th.
Villa has a .282 average and a .394 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 88 hits, 8 home runs and driven in 34 runs.
