Basford Torches Reds for 5 Hits Thursday, April 11th , 2086 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for George Basford -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Field of the Partisans and paced the 12-6 Partisans win over the Aurora Reds. After his dynamite batting performance, the Lexington center fielder told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book. George Basford singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th. Basford is hitting .435 this year with 1 home run, 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored. He has 10 hits in 23 at-bats, 1 walk and a .458 on-base percentage. Basford has played in 5 games. View Boxscore |
