Best AC Reliever Named
Friday, September 21st , 2085
Buddy Verveer of the Joliet Blues has been named the winner of the 2085 Alpha Conference Reliever of the Year Award.
The award comes at an opportune time too, as the 33-year-old is an impending free agent.
"You always hope to have this type of year every year, but it's pretty special to have it before I go to free agency, if that happens," he said.
On the year, the relief ace had a 2.84 ERA over 95 innings of work. He made 28 relief appearances and had 3 saves, 64 strikeouts, 36 walks and a record of 6-4. Opponent batters hit only .247 against him.
He received 28 first place votes out of a possible 30. Ray Cramer of the Norfolk Thorns finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Kyle Ratajczak of the Riverside Spinners finished third with 1 first place vote.
