AC Honors Fremont Second Baseman Monday, August 16th , 2083 Fremont's Kazuyuki Matsushima would not be denied the Alpha Conference Player of the Week Award for this past week. His consistent stroke, which produced 11 hits in 16 at-bats and a .688 average, made him the clear favorite to win the honor. "You just go out there and do what you have to do," said Matsushima, "When I'm up, I try to focus and block everything else out of my mind and have a good at-bat. I'm up there to get a hit or advance a runner, not to get caught up in the emotion of the moment. I hope I can win this award every week." He also tallied 4 home runs, 10 RBIs, and scored 4 runs. For the season, Matsushima is hitting at a .313 clip with 11 home runs, 34 RBIs and has scored 41 runs. He has 63 hits, 36 walks and a .419 on-base percentage. |
