It's Over: Spinners Stop Niu Monday, August 20th , 2085 The Riverside Spinners pitching staff did its job, holding hot-hitting Wen-huan Niu hitless in 4 at-bats during the club's 6-0 victory over the Saint Petersburg Red Wings at Spinners Ballpark. The disappointing performance ended a 31-game hitting streak for the first baseman. "I'm a little down right now," Niu said after the game. "I couldn't get anything going when the team needed me, and I hated to see the streak end, too." During the current season Niu is batting at a .386 clip with 6 home runs and 31 RBIs. He has played in 56 games and scored 22 times. |
