Gonzalez Slams 5 Hits for Baton Rouge Wednesday, July 17th , 2086 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Marco Gonzalez, it came around today. The 24-year-old first baseman scattered hits all over Red Wings Ballpark to pace the 8-3 Baton Rouge Kings victory over the Saint Petersburg Red Wings. Saint Petersburg skipper told reporters in the press room that "Gonzalez deserves a hat-tip." "He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Gonzalez hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit." Marco Gonzalez singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and doubled in the 9th. In his season totals Gonzalez has 1 home run and a .281 batting average.
