Hat Trick of Home Runs for Pena
Tuesday, May 30th , 2084
Jesus Pena must believe in the Big Bang theory. He proved it by banging three deep against the Akron Pickets. The hard-hitting Huntington Beach Drummers left fielder added a lot of firepower and excitement to the 7-4 Drummers win, leaving fans and the opposing dugout buzzing about his standout performance.
"He looked real good today," Akron manager said later. "I think the guys were awful impressed by him. Frustrated, but impressed."
For the game, Pena had 4 hits in 5 at-bats, drove in 5, and scored 4 runs. The 30-year-old is known in league circles as a tireless worker, and told reporters he has recently been putting in extra time fine-tuning his swing, "to keep it short, compact and simple."
"Looks like it worked today," he said.
Jesus Pena hit a solo-shot off Ruben Escobar in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Ruben Escobar in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Miguel Cerda in the 7th and struck out in the 9th.
So far this year, Pena is batting .323 with 19 home runs.
