5-for-6 Day for Avelar
Tuesday, May 30th , 2084
Some moments become linked with a particular player's career forever. Eli Avelar of the Wichita Riversharks had one of those moments when he went 5-for-6 at the plate in his team's 7-6 win over the Anchorage Homesteads at Homesteads Ballpark.
"I won't forget this anytime soon, and I don't expect it to happen too often," the 24-year-old shortstop told reporters in the postgame interview. "I'll be happy to just get a hit or two every day. Enough to hang around the league a while longer. Like 10, maybe 15 more years."
Eli Avelar singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, flied out in the 6th, singled in the 8th and doubled in the 11th.
Currently Avelar is batting .302 with 58 hits and 6 home runs. He has knocked in 24 runs and scored 32 times.
