It's Over: Red Wings Stop Roozeboom Thursday, August 9th , 2085 Late in the game, all eyes in Red Wings Ballpark were on Olly Roozeboom as he stepped into the batter box. His 20-game hitting streak was on the line, and he had a zero in the hit column on the day. Sadly for Roozeboom, it was not meant to be -- the zero would stay and the streak would end. If there was a silver lining for Roozeboom, it was that his Chula Vista Ghouls won the game anyway, stopping the Saint Petersburg Red Wings by the score of 4-3. "Winning took some of the disappointment out of it," Roozeboom told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 20 straight games. It's something I will always remember." Thus far this year, Roozeboom is batting .350 with 5 home runs, 21 RBIs and 22 runs scored. |
