Los Angeles Blanks Chicago Behind Muro
Monday, July 23rd, 2068
The Chicago Phantoms were almost helpless today in their 8-0 loss to the Los Angeles Stars and hurler Manny Muro. Muro kept the Phantoms confused all game, spinning a 6-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Muro," Chicago manager Kevin Chmura said in his postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 28-year-old right-hander had no walks and 7 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Muro said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
This season-to-date, Muro has fashioned a 11-2 mark and 2.57 ERA in 126 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .202 against him and he has logged 132 strikeouts.
