Simon Rips Portland for 5 Hits Friday, August 17th , 2085 Today at Ballpark of Missouri, Eddie Simon put on an impressive display. The Kansas City Athletics second baseman tagged Portland pitching for 5 hits in 7 at-bats, but his teammates were unable to capitalize on the spree and lost the game to the Portland Dragons by the score of 13-12. "The loss takes some of the joy out of it, but I'll take it," Simon said. "5-for-7 ain't bad in any league." Despite the terrific performance, the Athletics manager was unwilling to offer the second baseman much praise, saying the "whole roster" is held accountable for losses. "Eddie told me 'Coach, I had 5 hits' and I said 'Well that's great, but it looks like we needed one more from you,'" manager Joe Monagle said. Eddie Simon singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, doubled in the 9th and flied out in the 11th.
