Arakawa 5-for-7 for Vikings Thursday, June 6th , 2086 Even as a kid, Gentaro Arakawa said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Legednary Park, Arakawa showed how well he learned that lesson. The 25-year-old designated hitter had 5 hits in 7 at-bats for the Minneapolis Vikings, helping his team knock off the Phoenix Thunderbirds by a score of 21-9. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did." Gentaro Arakawa grounded out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Earl Starr in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th, hit a two-run single in the 7th and singled in the 9th. This season, Arakawa has hit at a .270 clip with 38 RBIs, 6 home runs and 27 runs scored. He has played in 61 games. View Boxscore View Game Log Watch Highlights |
