Frank Burford was sizzling at the plate. In a game played at Mountaineers Ballpark, the Newport News second baseman blistered the Reno Mountaineers for 5 hits in 6 at-bats to pace his club to a good 11-5 victory.

"Burford was too tough to get out," Mountaineers skipper said in his postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too."

Frank Burford singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
