It wasn't easy but the Corpus Christi Golden Bears made it look that way.
Starter Steve Picozzi shut out the Salt Lake Stingers despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Corpus Christi Golden Bears cruised to victory, 6-0. Picozzi allowed only 3 hits and rang up 3 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
This year, Picozzi has made 4 starts, thrown 30 innings, fanned 14 batters and walked 7. His won-lost record is 3-2 with a 2.70 ERA.
