Big Day for Podewils: Swats 5 Hits
The Hillsboro Ensigns stopped the St. Louis Hammers by a score of 7-6 at Ensigns Ballpark, with the lion's share of the credit going to second baseman Jon Podewils. The 20-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.

"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Podewils said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."

Podewils did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Hammers.

"Not much that I can say," offered St. Louis manager . "He just hammered the heck out of us."
