Franz Sends Tampico Bats to Deep Freeze
The Tampico Bucaneros were almost helpless in their 11-0 loss to the Tulsa Metalheads and hurler Corey Franz. Franz kept the Bucaneros confused all game, spinning a 4-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Franz," Tampico manager said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 21-year-old left-hander had 1 walk and 4 strikeouts in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Franz said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."

Up to now Franz has compiled an ERA of 3.40 with a 5-2 mark over 8 starts. He has 32 strikeouts in 50.1 innings and has held opponents to a .238 batting average.
