Bishop Batters Fremont Big Time
|
Mike Bishop was at the head of a Ames Lake hit parade at Jackalopes Ballpark. The left fielder went to the plate 5 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Jackalopes to a nice 19-2 victory over the Fremont Leeches.
"I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Bishop told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today."
Leeches skipper said later that the club gave up "too much plate."
"Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."
Mike Bishop hit a solo-shot off Jesus Monzon in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Ivan Cruz in the 6th and doubled in the 7th.
Bishop is batting .525 this year with 3 home runs, 8 RBIs and 11 runs scored. He has 21 hits in 40 at-bats.
