Blues Hilborn Smacks 6 Hits
|
After a 6-hit effort to lead Joliet's 9-2 victory over the Fremont Roadsters, second baseman Johnny Hilborn told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the RSL Triple A-level is really something special."
The 23-year-old player earned his accolades at Ballpark of Fremont with a spectacular 6-for-6 game against the Roadsters.
"His swing is getting there," said Blues skipper , who spoke glowingly of Hilborn after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Johnny did that to perfection."
Johnny Hilborn singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
So far this season, Hilborn has recorded a .262 batting average with 32 hits, no home runs, 10 RBIs, 9 runs scored and a .324 OBP.
