Monge Socks It to Homesteads, Cracks 5 Hits
|
There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day.
Omar Monge is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-5 against the Anchorage Homesteads at Red Wings Ballpark. The monster effort from the 26-year-old second baseman helped the Saint Petersburg Red Wings get the win, 5-1.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Homesteads manager . "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today."
Omar Monge singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
Monge is currently hitting .357 with 1 home runand 16 RBIs, while scoring 22 runs.
