5-6 Game for Gonzáles
Sunday, August 21st, 2044
After the Santiago de Cuba 12-6 victory over Holguin and his 5-hit day center fielder Jesús Gonzáles told BNN beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game are very good. Three or four hits even better, five or more are out of sight ... and if it is in pro ball, it is really something special." The 36-year-old player gained that distinction today at Holguin Grounds with a spectacular 5 for 6 game against the Holguin Sabuesos. The skipper of the Avispas spoke glowingly of Gonzáles, telling BNN writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Jesús did that to perfection today." Jesús Gonzáles singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th, hit a two-run single in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 9th.
