Injury Worsens, Return Delayed For Camaroneros Lara

Cienfuegos shortstop Miguel Lara reportedly suffered a setback this week while rehabilitating a twisted ankle. Preliminary tests showed the injury has gotten worse and would need more time to be completely healed. An unidentified team official said it looked like it would be at least one week before Lara would be able to return to the active roster. Lara will see a specialist tomorrow.
Lara is hitting .253 so far this season with 36 RBIs and 39 runs scored. He has 60 hits including 18 home runs, 29 walks and .335 OBP.

García Voted October's #1 Newcomer

In October, Guantanamo center fielder Roberto García took the Zona Oriental Rookie of the Month honors.
In 15 games he hit .194, collecting 6 hits, no home runs, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. He also chalked up 3 walks and a .265 OBP.
This season García is batting .214 with 15 hits and no home runs. He has scored 6 times and has 6 RBI.

Zona Occidental Names Rookie of Month

José Rodríguez's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Isla de la Juventud catcher has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.
In October he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.
During the month he hit .295 with 2 doubles, no triples and 2 home runs. Rodríguez also scored 4 times and drove in 9 runs.
So far this year Rodríguez is hitting .235 with 4 home runs.
