Morita's Hit Streak Soars to 39 Games Tuesday, September 20th, 2044 Long hitting streaks don't happen very often and when they happen it perks up everybody's interest. No one knows how long it will go -- it could end tomorrow -- but baseball fans and Takanori Morita are enjoying the moment right now. The 26-year-old Saitama second baseman extended his string to 39 consecutive games in Lions Ballpark today. Morita got 2 hits, but the Chiba Marines got the victory. They toppled the Lions 4-3. Takanori Morita singled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, grounded out in the 7th and flied out in the 9th. Thus far in 2044 Morita is hitting .457 with 30 home runs, 168 RBIs, 133 runs scored and has compiled a .549 OBP. |
