Arakawa Selected AC's Top Player
Wednesday, September 13th , 2079
At the age of 18, Gentaro Arakawa of the Plano Elephants could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2079 was good enough to win the first baseman the Alpha Conference Outstanding Hitter Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .304 batting average this year, as well as a .358 on-base percentage. He played 118 games and racked up 138 hits, 23 doubles, no triples, 25 home runs, 67 RBIs and 49 runs scored.
He received 24 first place votes out of a possible 30. Scott McLeod of the Grand Blanc Barons finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Mike Vazquez of the Toledo Red Dragons finished third with 3 first place votes.
