Lantz Belts Bunch of Base Hits Sunday, August 1st , 2083 After a 5-hit effort to lead Gilbert's 12-8 victory over the Paradise Gecko, left fielder Jonathan Lantz told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the RSL Single A-level is really something special." The 21-year-old player earned his accolades at Paradise Grounds with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Gecko. "His swing is getting there," said Bulldozers skipper , who spoke glowingly of Lantz after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Jonathan did that to perfection." Jonathan Lantz was hit by a pitch in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 9th. Lantz is batting .271 this year with 12 home runs, 37 RBIs and 32 runs scored. He has 60 hits in 221 at-bats. View Boxscore |
